'HAIKU"

BEVERAGE!
The coffee that brews,
all day long in the kitchen,
revives and renews,
two rhyme-searching souls,
who finds form and scheme,
in mundane, every day things.

Untitled!
Chilly wintry morn,
migratory birds fly high,
while the mild Sun peeps.

Test

Seventy souls,
flipping, sieving, heaving.

Analyzing, attributing, articulating
their judgment, perception, knowledge
amidst supervision , set seating, set time.

Movement, just of the hands.
Sound, just of the pages.

Silence, deliberate silence
for reflection and revelation.

Untitled!

Florescent Ephemerals,
gentle as the breeze,
flutters for 'light' when 'light' ensnares.

Daintiest wings,
Creator’s masterpiece.
But, how fragile, how transient.

The 'FAIR'!

With the zealous enthusiasm of the dedicated and die hard supporters we, the ‘fairer’ lot are now considered worthy (if not higher) to walk hand in hand with our counterpart. Our domain has crossed the boundary of the pantry to the limitless arena of the outside world. We’ve proved our efficiency even in sectors considered far beyond our reach and today the ‘fair’ lot’ is leading a country, flying a supersonic jet, conquering the highest peak, risking life at the border and competing in life threatening adventure sport.
This being a remarkable feat, we take pride in our achievement; the result of undeterred dedication, faith and effort. It has been a rough path of challenges and at times humiliation but a worthy one nonetheless. We have won both confidence and ‘R E S P E C T’ denied in the past and for the ‘fair’ of today, there’s no turning back.
This is in terms of the physical, outside world where change is considered a mark of progress. It’s external and therefore can be twisted to suit our whims and fancies. Voices of rebel transform into songs of victory with perseverance because it’s a world defined and designed by the action of men (inclusive of both genders).
However, there is the biological side, the side of the natural over which mortals have no control or say. Creation’s focus is in balancing existence of weak and strong, mild and rough and the ‘fairer’, by nature are meant to be gentle, supportive and caring. Made from the ‘rib’, the only strong bone that protects the heart we are to be strong yet fragile.
We are intelligent, sensitive, caring, and beautiful, able to sense ‘wants’ before ‘wanted’. Our beauty rivals the heavens and earth. We are to unquestioningly care and support as the rib cage supports the body. We are ‘holiness’ ‘strength’, ‘purity’ ‘love and support.’ In humility, we are the power of emotion, in gentle quietness, strength and in love, protect like the rib that protects the inner self.
We represent emotions while our counterpart is the ‘image’ and both in harmony make totality. This is the purpose of our being, to co-exist and balance.

Making of a story…

…and the story unfolds of an everlasting afternoon with Mr. Andrew Wright, a story teller and a poet.
'Life is a story', he says, every incident is a part of the tapestry being weaved. The hazy, watery eyes tired by life’s sojourn is a window to things we have no inkling of . Through that haziness he sees what we miss. Those eyes take note of every minute detail and in his quiet, unassuming voice, he gently proclaims, ‘ Look at the two signboards, they are alphabets no doubt but do you notice the difference in the font? There is a story! Notice the signboard of Mac Donald’s and Roll Royce, the golden arch that lures and the royal R that’s class. So, there is another story. Every act is a loom that is projection of one’s cultural, ethical, and social background besides giving vent to one’s desires, hopes and dreams. Look around and you’ll see the distinct story. My shoelace for instance is a story! Its' worn out shreds have memories and the fact that I dare to wear it speaks of my character and back ground. No men in this part of the world would dare wear a shoe with shredded lace and that is another story.'

He’s scattered in the midst of papers filled with sketches that capture incidents to be portrayed in his stories, woven and intertwined as episodes of life’s frozen moments. He’s getting ready for another session on story telling and in that attempt, he tells me his story
It’s a story of a man who sees the world in enactment that in turn shape and create his saga some of which is stark and distinct, some soft and unnoticed. It’s a story of a storyteller who in the midst of ‘theories of Language Arts’ speaks poetry, an expression far more gentle and in many ways unheard for he remarks, ‘not many attended my poetry session today’, maintaining the glowing smile which is a sign of hope. Its hope that the medium of story telling will continue to weave tapestries of our life to be heard, appreciated and adopted as one of the instructional theory in the teaching arena. Let story telling help generate the love of a language that'll be OUR VOICE, remarkable and eloquent!

Inside out ...

Scrutiny of the bones, veins, tissues and blood
with ‘Hard X-Rays', ‘radio waves’ and ‘magnet’
to produce ‘ Radiographic Images’.
Now, the ' insides’ are ‘Photographic Films’,
neat in Black and White
colours only practitioners can interpret.

T o me it’s fascination
that an exposure to radiation
can bring the ‘insides’ out
and lay them 'naked and bare’.
