Thrives

One killing wasn’t enough
so, the grave was dug,
bones drawn and trampled again.

Traitor and turncoat in real,
but comrade in guise
and make-belief paradise.

Escapes the wrath of the dead
without repentance .
‘Thriving world’ or so it seems!

Reminded me of the Cold War and Eastern Europe before the collapse of the Berlin Wall and this song just crept up to my mind

...Oh I saw you by the wall
Ten of your tin soldiers in a row
With eyes that looked like ice on fire
The human heart a captive in the snow...

...And if there comes a time
Guns and gates no longer hold you in
And if you're free to make a choice
Just look towards the west and find a friend
