HOLD ON TO WHAT IS GOOD EVEN IF IT IS A HANDFUL OF EARTH,
HOLD ON TO WHAT YOU BELIEVE EVEN IF IT IS A TREE THAT STANDS BY ITSELF.
I'll hold on to the belief that someday all will be well and this Earth will be a garden of Eden. Nothing will be wiped off , they'll be captured and frozen to preserve their precious nature. They'll crystalize and shine ever so bright and with their radiance dim and destroy all obstacles. There'll be bridges to replace walls, love in place of hatred, giving more than receiving and happiness in its true essence. Such a moment is not far....

A GOOD FAREWELL!
In my younger days, I didn’t quite understand the necessity of a farewell. Infact it would make me wonder why there had to be so much formality in saying the two simplest words. I’d wonder why people would have to gather and go through the process of expressing one’s feeling and shed tears. I didn’t like it one bit because it was a moment when my weakness would be revealed .
There was excitement too, especially in my teenage days, when for the first time I along with a few others got the opportunity to plan the much awaited farewell party for the out going seniors. I still remember trotting authoritatively to every class making collections, chalking a budget, selecting gift items, planning every detail of the event. Best of all was going shopping; I’d get that much awaited opportunity of visiting my favorite ‘nook’. Being in a residential school, the only places of interest then were ‘food joints’. To be honest we’d return with more food for our ever hungry bellies. I must have had a barrel for a stomach those days,I was always so hungry.
Food then was surely ‘glorious’ and those midnight feasts a sheer thrill. It’s fun to break rules at times!
Now with age I’ve mellowed a great deal and begun to see sense. Yes, now I have a different opinion, farewell or in other words, a proper goodbye is necessary. It is one way of bringing home the message that we have moved one step ahead. The journey of life is a forward trail and that we need to march on. A proper goodbye helps one compromise with and accept reality. It stops one from building ‘false hope’ and wasting time and it also helps the past be a treasure trove where one can seek to find the jewel that’ll be a ‘shining star’ , a guiding light when everything fades into oblivion.

Nights of bliss and sheer poetry!
Moonlit sky, open air theatre, poetry recitation, traditional music, folklore and dance! What else does one need?
The last two evenings have been the best ever where I talked poetry, walked poetry and felt poetry in the very pulse. It was transcendence to a world of my dreams, where there’s pure bliss, eternal and everlasting. It’s a world of words, therefore there’s no betrayal. I’ve found my new haunts; yes, it’s the Dubai House of Poetry, The Madinet Theatre and I’m hoping my better half will to drive me to The World Trade Center this evening for Wole Soyinka’s poetry recitation. Grant me my wish, pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

AS YOU PLEASE...
Slash me, stone me, slay me,
throw me in the gallows or gag me.
Tie my limbs and drag me over rugged stones,
hang me in the guillotine and let the head go flying.
Run a bull dozer over or very painstakingly slit the throat.
Slice open every vein with pointed needles and razor sharp blades ,
Or even trigger a gun on my forehead
Any any form of punishment will be a Catharsis.
A purging and a healing!
throw me in the gallows or gag me.
Tie my limbs and drag me over rugged stones,
hang me in the guillotine and let the head go flying.

MOMENT
That last sitting and that meeting,
Where we had a recollecting;
Where we treaded in the past
and captured that moment in glass.
Reflected in the reflection
of the days of perfection!
Glorious were those fragile moments
though they were relived in glass!
Too soon the glass cracked
unable to keep track,
and shattered into a million pieces
like debris of houses after bombshell.
My stained hands bled profusely
carpeted the wet floor with crimson blood
while trying to retrieve the slip- slided moment
and fragments of glass!
Where we had a recollecting;
Where we treaded in the past
and captured that moment in glass.
Reflected in the reflection

Glorious were those fragile moments

BETRAYAL OF THE SENSES..
Looks like my ears want a break from hearing since what it heard on Saturday was way beyond its poor ability to fathom, accept and digest.
Now it'll do no hearing, not under any circumstance and that's a very critical situation for a teacher person like me. It's hilarious too! Imagine walking into a class of young, boisterous, enthusiastic and energetic lads full of exciting stories to relate to a teacher whose ears are totally blocked !!! :(
At first, they think it's a new strategy , an 'act deaf game' that I'm playing to discipline but then they realize it goes way beyond. Soon I see naughty smiles and naughtier gestures!
However, I have to confess that these young lads have been very supportive. Everyone wishes, 'Salamat' which is 'Get well soon' in Arabic; a sure sign of untainted heart.
On the other hand, this is a moment of utter frustration and I'm desperate to figure out why my sense of hearing is betraying me. Or is it a support?
Maybe it feels I need these days of silence as relief from those horrifying utterances. My grandma often advised me to be very watchful of my tongue; now I truly understand the wisdom behind that advice. The effect of ‘bad words’ on one’s brain is beyond any explanation.
Therefore, it may be that I need this silence, this make belief, 'NIRVANA' to come to terms with bitter reality.
But reality also has it that such a condition is abnormal and I need to fix an appointment with an ENT.
Now it is my turn to betray the sense.(

ANSWERS, PLEASE...
It's strange how the so called Civilized People use the most atrocious of language to vent out anger. Had it been in the days of Puritanism, such an act would be considered 'blasphemy' and the person 'an outcast' with a 'label’. However in today's world everything is acceptable; that’s how open minded we are...
I on the other hand may be a creature from Mars or Venus or the Underworld (if the previous two options are too good for me) to be appalled by such a behavior. Nonetheless, I am, and in desperate need of answers for the innumerable questions gnawing my sense of reasoning.
To begin with,
1. Who gives anyone the authority to be abusive?
Haven't we learnt right from our tender childhood the mannerisms befitting to a modern society?
2. What exactly is Modernism if our minds are perverted, narrow and rigid?
3. Who is guiltier; the one who is abusive or the other who is passive?
4. Should the ‘passive’ also adopt the path of the ‘abusive’and then behave like stray dogs fighting over a lean piece of meat?
5. What or how exactly should the passive express his/her innocence?
6. Does the word 'trust’ have a completely different meaning to Civilized People?
Looks like I need to visit the bookstore for an update.
